The Burnout Companion - Alongside
Private WhatsApp wellbeing support for SEND parents, adoptive parents and anyone who has spent a long time carrying a lot for everyone else.
Support that meets you where you are.
Sometimes you don't need another course.
You don't need another workbook.
And you definitely don't need another person telling you to make more time for yourself.
Sometimes you need somewhere to say:
“This is really bloody hard.”
Without having to explain, minimise it, or immediately work out how you're going to fix it.
Alongside is private, one-to-one WhatsApp support for those navigating burnout, overwhelm and the mental load that can come with caring, working, advocating and simply trying to keep everyday life moving.
No programme to keep up with.
No homework to fall behind on.
No pressure to have everything figured out.
You bring what's happening. We'll start there.
You can love them deeply and still be exhausted.
You might be juggling school meetings, appointments, paperwork, work, home, behaviours, transitions, sibling needs, difficult decisions and the constant mental calculation of what might happen next.
Perhaps you're always advocating.
Always anticipating.
Always adjusting.
And somewhere amongst all that caring, you've become very good at putting yourself further down the list.
Alongside gives you a private space that's yours.
A place to unpack the difficult day.
To celebrate the win nobody else quite understands.
To notice patterns.
To think something through before responding.
To explore boundaries, rest, guilt, identity or whatever else is showing up.
Or sometimes simply to say:
“Today has been A LOT.”
Because support doesn't always need to begin with a solution.
Sometimes being heard matters too.
What might we explore?
There isn't a fixed curriculum because your life isn't a curriculum.
Our conversations might touch on burnout and overwhelm, rest guilt, over-functioning, boundaries, identity beyond caring, emotional regulation, self-awareness, asking for help, reconnecting with yourself or creating rhythms that feel more sustainable.
And some weeks?
We might talk about something completely different.
The starting point is always you and what's happening now.
Why WhatsApp?
Because when life is already full, support needs to fit around real life — not become another appointment you have to organise yourself around.
WhatsApp gives you space to reach out when something is actually happening.
You can write.
Send a voice note.
Gather your thoughts before you share them.
Come back to something we've discussed.
And access the conversation around the realities of work, parenting and caring.
You don't have to save everything up for your next session.
What Alongside isn't
Alongside is wellbeing and coaching support. It isn't therapy, counselling, medical or mental-health treatment, social work, SEND advocacy/legal advice or a crisis service.
I won't pretend to have answers that belong with another professional.
What I can offer is a thoughtful, non-judgemental space to help you reflect, understand what you're experiencing and consider what you might need next.
And where something falls outside my role, I'll be transparent about that.
I’ll meet you where you are, without rushing you, judging you or asking you to pretend that everything is okay.
